Slacker

I know I've been a horrible slacking blogger these last few months and I really have no excuse since I do nothing all day lol. Not a whole lot has gone on in my life. Let's see here. The beginning of August I was going down the dirt road to my house, and I was going to fast on a corner and I started spinning out of control. Then I rolled onto my side up against a hill. It was fun times lol. Scared me to death. The sad thing is while I was spinning all I could think was "I hope I die or else my dad's gonna kill me" lol. Which unfortunantly he didn't. He chose the silent treament instead...which is even worse in my eyes. He didn't talk to me for almost 3 weeks and I still can't drive any of their cars...nor will I probably ever be able to again. So after all that happened, 3 days later my laptop died...just what I needed. So now I have to buy a car and a laptop whenever I get the money...and who knows when that will be lol. BUT I do have some good news. All my blood counts look good so I got the ok to work part-time. There's a job opening for a 911 Operator here that I'm going to apply for. I really want to do something that will help people and I think this will be a great opportunity to do just that. I just need to freshen up on my typing skills for a bit before I go in and apply because we have to take a test. I can type fast but accuracy is another story lol. I really hope I get this job. I've had so many people help me in my life and I want a chance to do something to help others. This job hunt has also made me realize that I need to go back to school. I don't want to/can't really work in the restaurant industry and stand on my feet all day so my culinary experience is basically useless to me. Unless by some dumb luck I come across a small bakery that needs someone....it's pretty much useless lol. I'm thinking of maybe going to a vocational school to be an EMT. They don't really make any money but it's rewarding lol. Who knows...it all depends on if I get this job or not if I can even go back to school. So we shall see. As for right now I'm just praying for any job cuz I'm dying without a car. It's so frustrating not being able to go places I want to go when I want to go! It's also very annoying having to use my parents' computer all the time....but I can live with that if it means saving for a car :) As for right now....I need to get to practicing my typing so I can hopefully get this job!!

Dear Grandpa

Wow.... So a lot has been going on in my life lately since the last time I blogged. Yes, yes, I know I'm a slacker :) On July 4th my grandpa passed away from complications with Parkinson's Disease. He was such a sweet, loving man and I miss him so much already. He had a long, hard battle with this awful disease and we're all grateful that his fight is over and he's in a much better place. He chose to be cremated...which I will never understand...but his memorial services were this past tuesday on the 14th. I'm doing a lot better since the services, I think it gave me a lot of closure. Before the memorial service my mom had all of us think of some memories of Papa to share in a thing my dad read. I wanna take a little more time and try and think of some more memories of him...

*Going to air shows and the air field...he loved planes*

*Going to get ice cream whenever we got the chance*

*Going to the Talmage Store to run errands*

*Gathering worms in the early morning to take fishing*

*Going fishing in the creek by my grandparents house in Cali*

*Watching him play pool in our basement for hours....he was soooo good*

*Going fishing in the canal up on our top property and dangling our feet over the edge*

*How much he loved cinnamon rolls*

*He'd always toast his marshmallows over the coals, so they'd be perfectly golden brown...no black. To this day I do mine the same way*

* He loved Wendy's Frosty's...actually he loved ice cream in any way, shape or form :)*

* He always told me how beautiful I looked....even when I thought it was a big fat lie...lol*

* He never let anyone leave without a hug and a kiss*

*He loved my grandma soooo much...even though she was crazy and yelled a lot lol*

*He had a great sense of humor...like agreeing with me that grandma was crazy :)*

*He never complained about anything...even though Parkinson's took away almost everything he loved to do and had him trapped inside that body*

*He was a Patriot through and through. He loved this country with all his heart*

I'm sure I could sit here all night and think of many, many more memories of Papa. Those were just a few I wanted to share with yall. I love my grandpa very much. He's a very special man and I miss him dearly. I'm sure as time goes on it will get easier, but for now, his memory is still fresh and the pain is also. I'm also attaching his obituary that my mom wrote. It's really beautiful and I don't know how she had the strength to write it honestly.

I love you Papa and I'll see you again someday...I promise

Too True

So I was going through my email, finally playing catch-up and reading all of them when I came across this one. I thought it was too funny...and true....not to share.

Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately: illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida. Not me, I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation.
+ Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees.
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Any other problems you would like for me to solve today?
Yes! Think about this one:
1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

C O W S
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

T H E C O N S T I T U T I O N
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq . Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

T H E 1 0 C O M M A N D M E N T S
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

La De Da...

Well it's 4:30 am and I can't sleep so I thought I'd blog since I haven't done it in almost 2 months!! With it being Memorial Day I thought I'd share my feelings on how grateful I am for the people that sacrifice everything to keep us safe and keep our freedoms. Last Monday I did an FHE on remembering to show gratitude towards the men and women that give up everything to protect our freedoms. So that we may be able to live as we like, and do the things that we love to do and worship as we choose. I'm thankful that I get to wear the things that I want to wear everyday and do my hair the way that I want to do. All these things are made possible by these great people that are willing to risk their lives for us...people they don't know. They do it for a cause they believe in, for their children, and their husbands, wives, brothers, sister, parents, etc. But back to the FHE, I did that lesson and then we were going to go see the Vietnam Wall that was on display here for Armed Forces day but they had taken it down a day early!! I was so upset!! So instead I decided that we should write letter to soldiers thanking them for their service in protecting this great nation we live in. After that day I've made it my goal to write to a soldier every day since then. It's not like I have anything better to do with my time lol. And I know it means so much to the soldiers to get news from home. If anyone else that is reading this is interested in sending letters too you can go to http://www.lettersfromhomeprogram.org/ I know the letters are greatly appreciated.

I'm so proud to say that my grandpa and dad served in the military to keep us safe here and keep our way of life.

I intended to write more about what's going on in my life but I'm falling asleep finally so to be continued...

My Wonderfully Wonderful Weekend

So... Thursday afternoon my friend Casie's mom text me and asked me if I wanted to go to Idaho with her...3 hours from then...eeeeek. So I ran upstairs, hopped in the shower, threw some clothes in a bag and we headed off on our way. Now before I go any further in my story we have to do a pause and rewind with a little background info. I've had a thing for Casie's brother Dustin for a while now...since like last may. And recently Lorrie, their mom has been trying on my end to get me together with him, which cracks me up but doesn't bother me in the least. So we've been conspiring on a trip up to Idaho. Ok now fast forward back to where we were. Lorrie and I drove to Layton on thursday then decided to stop for the night since it was late and we were both tired. I love driving through Utah at night. You can see all the pretty temples all around. It's just awesome. So Friday morning we got back on the road about 9:30. I absolutely love Lorrie. She's awesome and so fun to talk with. We got to Rexburg about 1 and drove to Dustin and Casie's grandparents house where we were staying and also where Dustin happens to be living :). We all hung out for a bit then Casie went to work and Dusty went to bed for a little while before dinner and bowling (he works from 3 am to about 9 or 10 am so he needed a nap). After a while Lorrie, Dusty and I went to visit Casie at work and have dinner there in Idaho Falls then drove back to Rexburg for bowling league with Dusty and his grandma. We chilled and watched them and Annie (the other sister) and I played air hockey for about an hour or longer. After bowling we went home and Dusty and I went down to his basement apartment and talked for about 2 hours or so till we were both falling asleep. Then I went back upstairs and waited for Casie to get there. Since there wasn't much room in their grandma's house Casie and I had to share a bed and at some point in the middle of the night I woke up and Casie was spooning me! She told me she was gonna cuddle with me before we went to sleep but I didn't think she was serious lol. She was pretty embarrassed the next morning when I told her about it though. That was about all the events of day 1.

Day 2 consisted of lunch at Fong's chinese restaurant. I woke Dusty up so I didn't have to go alone with Lorrie and the other Grandma. Then a lot of shopping and playing on Dusty's iPhone. Those things are awesome! I totally want one now and I am officially addicted to the hangman app on it. After a zillion hours of running around all over Rexburg...as much as one can run around there we finally went home. Sometime after that we had dinner somewhere and then Dusty, his roommate Chris and I went to see the movie Push. Normally I'd say it'd be awkward for there to be a third wheel on a date but we're so comfortable it was cool. The movie was ok, Dakota Fanning has definitely grown up. I'd say the best part of the movie was getting to stare at Chris Evans (Fantastic 4) for 2 hours...so hot! So after the movie we go back to the guys house and some other people come over to watch a movie. They choose Jumper to watch which I've already seen but oh well. Dusty and I laying on the LoveSac playing with his iPhone and cuddling...yes I did say cuddling :) and I was getting all kinds of looks from the other girls there when I got up the one time. I loved it lol. So then after everyone left we were still laying there and talking and falling asleep cuz it was like 12:30 and he had to be up in 2 1/2 hrs. Then he walked me back upstairs and I gave him a kiss on the cheek and that was that. Any other guy I would have totally kissed but because I like him I get all shy...I hate it! Doesn't help that he's really really shy all the time too.

Saturday I spent most of the day with Casie and her mom. We went to see Annie, who goes to cosmotology school, and I chopped about 3 or 4 inches off my hair! I love it, it looks so healthy now. It was in major need of some lovin. After that we went to a craft store, then to try and find Lorrie some new jeans at Down East, then over to Wal-Mart. Much to my surprise I was walking through Wally World and passed by my friend Julia from TX! She was in my old singles ward and just got married this last summer. It was so good to see her! She's just too cute. So after catching up and buying some cold medicine (I got sick on vacation :( ) we FINALLY went home and I was worn out. I went to lay down for a little bit and not 20 min later Dusty comes in and asks if I wanna go with him to a bday party...well DUH of course I did! So we went to the party and hung out all night then went home and fell asleep talking on the couch lol.

Sunday morning we left early but Dusty told me to wake him up before we left so I went down and jumped on his bed and scared the crap outta him. It was great :) He helped us pack the truck up then we said our goodbyes, hugged, I gave him a kiss on the cheek and then we were off. It was a great weekend, just what the dr ordered. I needed a life...even if it was just for a couple days lol. I really like him and he's a great guy. We've talked everyday since I left and I get to go back up there at the end of March, I can't wait!

So I just reread this and realized I could have just written that I went up to Idaho, cuddled with a boy I like, chopped some hair off, saw a friend I hadn't seen in forever and came home. But what fun would that have been?!

Catching Up

So I got on tonight with full intentions of finishing the blog I had started about my great weekend in Idaho this last weekend. BUT...I got distracted catching up on all the blogs that I have been slacking on reading. I have too many friends with cute babies and funny things to say! I promise I'll finish writing about Idaho soon...cuz you'll wanna read it ;-)

Too funny not to share

So I got this in an email the other day and I about fell out of my chair laughing because it is so true. I get sick of all the forwarded emails I get that we all know aren't know. Granted some of the information some people send is good, but most of it is crap, and the ones that say you have to forward it to so many people within such and such amount of time immediately go in my trash folder. I'm sorry if you actually believe in these kinds of emails and this offends you... and if you do...stop reading right now :)

Thanks for looking after me...

Just when you thought paranoia was dead.....

I just want to thank all of you for your educational e-mails over the past year. I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery.

I no longer open a public bathroom door without using a paper towel or have them put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the bacteria on the lemon peel....I actually do follow this one cuz it is true and I'm such a germaphobic lol

I can't use the remote in a hotel room because I don't know what the last person was doing while flipping through the adult movie channels.

I can't sit down on the hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed.

I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking ones nose (although cell phone usage may be taking the number one spot).

Eating a little snack sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of trans fats I have consumed over the years.

I can't touch any woman's purse for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public bathroom.

I MUST SEND MY SPECIAL THANKS to whoever sent me the one about poop in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing.

ALSO, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.

I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program.

I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's Novena has granted my every wish.

I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.

I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

THANKS TO YOU I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes...

BECAUSE OF YOUR CONCERN, I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.

I no longer can buy gasoline without taking someone along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm pumping gas.

I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr. Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put 'Under God' on their cans.

I no longer use Saran Wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.

AND THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face... disfiguring me for life.

I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS..

I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

I no longer receive packages from UPS or Fed Ex since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise.

I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army.

I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore , and Uzbekistan .

I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe.

THANKS TO YOU I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my butt.

AND THANKS TO YOUR GREAT ADVICE I can't ever pick up $5.00 dropped in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.

I can no longer drive my car because I can't buy gas from certain gas companies!

I can't do any gardening because I'm afraid I'll get bitten by the brown recluse and my hand will fall off.

If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician.

Oh, by the way..... A German scientist from Argentina , after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read their e-mail with their hand on the mouse.

Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.

I had to laugh because the whole time I was reading this I had my finger on my scroll pad lol. I hope yall enjoyed this as much as I did.

To Those Who've Gone Before...

Over the course of my recent 2 week visit to TX I had the opportunity to go and visit the grave of my best friend Paul. I should have been visiting him, but he decided to take his own life 3 years ago. While sitting there talking to him...and I'm sure looking like a crazy person to everyone that drove by...I feel like I can bare it all. Lay it all out on the table. And not only because he's not there to argue or judge but because it's Paul. He would always be the one I could and did tell everything to. And when he was gone it was hard. I felt like I didn't have anyone who knew all my secrets and that I'd have to find that all over again. His death was one of the worst times in my life. I've been sick and begging the nurses to kill me and put me out of my misery, but never before had I felt such heartache and pain. Over the years it's gotten easier, and part of that has been realizing that he is still with me. People say that all the time "I know he's here with me" and we all just look at them and roll our eyes and think they're wackos. But I know what I have felt and I know it's real. And the fact that I have felt him there next to me in the temple solidifies that I'm not just imagining it, or wishing he were. Paul will always be my best guy friend. No man can ever replace him or live up to him. And now that I've gotten over the hurt...for the most part...I can look back at the pictures we've taken or the many memories I have with him and smile and laugh because I know that's what he would want. He never wanted anyone to be sad around him. It made him mad if someone made a girl cry. And so as I sit here and write this I smile through the tears, though they're not tears of sadness. They're tears for the times we laughed so hard we cried. Times we went to wal-mart at 3 am to get ice cream. Times when he forcibly made me sit and watch a scary movie "cuz it'll make you tough". Tears for the times that are yet to come, and for the time when I will see him again. There's one more cheerleader in heaven rootin for me.
miss you Pictures, Images and Photos

Shortly after writing this blog I learned that one of my very good friend's older brothers had passed away early saturday morning. He was 33, died in his sleep and they don't know what from. In my last blog about lessons learned, one of them was to cherish the people you love, because they can be taken from you in an instant. While I watch my friend go through torment and grief I can't help but think "I'm glad it's not my brother". I feel completely horrible even thinking that let alone putting it in here for all to see. Sara's brother had been on a mission, and he had been through the temple. He had a place to go home to. As much as we will all miss him, he will be in a better place where he will be happy and his mind will be perfect. I worry so much for my brothers. Both have rejected the church, and no matter how hard I try I cannot get them to come back. Their lifestyles aren't exactly in line with the church and they've taken their familes down that path too. I can't imagine spending eternity without them but brothers are not sealed to their spouses so my nephews and niece are not sealed to them. I pray for the day when I see that happen and I can know that my family will all be safe and all be together.

Lessons Learned

I've learned a lot in my lifetime. Here are a few things that it's been a rough road learning, but totally worth it.

1. There are only a few choice people in your life that will truly always be there for you.

2. You can live after your heart has been broken a few times.

3. Hospitals sometimes make you more sick than make you better.

4. My family will always be my family no matter what they do, how much they disappoint me, or how much they annoy me I will always love them.

5. I really do love my friends and am grateful for the support they give me...even though I don't deserve it sometimes
friends Pictures, Images and Photos

6. Just because I'm blonde doesn't mean I'm dumb.

7. I probably learn more from my Primary kids than they do from me.

8. Sometimes I do know more than the doctors when it comes to my illness. Lol

9. My parents are actually more right than wrong, despite what I thought growing up :)

10. I let someone control me once, and I will never let that happen again.

11. I'm happy being me, and if someone doesn't like that than they don't deserve to be my friend.

12. The cuter the boy is, the more likely he is to be a jerk and break your heart.

13. You can have friends of any age, whether they're 2 or 82.

14. It's better to put your heart out there and tell someone how you feel and be rejected than to never tell that person and always wonder "what if".

15. My Dad's not Superman, but he's pretty darn close.
Even Superman Needs A Dad

16. Not everyone can handle my illness, and those who can't should not be judged because of it.
.

17. Don't take anyone in your life for granted, they can be gone in an instant.

18. I may never have kids of my own, though my nieces and nephews are my kids I can give back :)

19. The cuter the boy is, the dumber he usually is.

20. My dad will always be my hero no matter how old I get.

21. Don't waste your time on someone who makes you cry, they're not worth your tears.

22. I need to laugh every day, it's vital to my survival.

23. The cure to any illness is ice cream.

24. Watching Grey's Anatomy or NCIS can "seriously" get me through anything, no matter how crappy it is.
Interns Seriously / Greys Anatomy Pictures, Images and Photos

25. At some point in your life you have to grow up.

26. Bad things can happen to good people.

27. Just because you have to grow up doesn't mean you always have to act grown up.

Photobucket

28. A baby's laugh can cure any bad mood.

29. All newborns look like aliens.

30. Good looking AND smart is hard to find in a man, if you happen to come across one of these rare specimens hold on tight to them. (I've yet to see one)

31. My nieces and nephews are quite possibly the cutest kids ever made.

32. My best friend is someone I would do anything for, and you don't find that every day.

33. I'm happy without a man in my life...something which I thought would never be possible.

34. I would be willing to give my life for my nieces, nephews and family, even best friend.

35. Never drink something hot while driving, it WILL spill all over you and burn you in the whoo ha.

36. Snow and flip flops don't mix if you ever wish to feel your feet and toes again.

37. Don't anger a steer with horns when you have no food to distract it. You'll either get a really sore bum or sore boobs.

38. Sometimes you shouldn't trust your dad when he says "It's not that steep" and your on a dirt bike that's about to be on top of you.

39. Brothers never grow up, they will always act 14 and see you as their 10 year old little sister.

And finally.... 40. No matter how allergic I am to chocolate I cannot live without it. It is in my blood, my soul, it is a part of me.

peace, love-chocolate Pictures, Images and Photos

There are many more life lessons I have learned that are not included, and some for good reason. But mostly because it has taken me 2 days to think of the 40 ones I did with my handicapped brain.
