Slacker

I know I've been a horrible slacking blogger these last few months and I really have no excuse since I do nothing all day lol. Not a whole lot has gone on in my life. Let's see here. The beginning of August I was going down the dirt road to my house, and I was going to fast on a corner and I started spinning out of control. Then I rolled onto my side up against a hill. It was fun times lol. Scared me to death. The sad thing is while I was spinning all I could think was "I hope I die or else my dad's gonna kill me" lol. Which unfortunantly he didn't. He chose the silent treament instead...which is even worse in my eyes. He didn't talk to me for almost 3 weeks and I still can't drive any of their cars...nor will I probably ever be able to again. So after all that happened, 3 days later my laptop died...just what I needed. So now I have to buy a car and a laptop whenever I get the money...and who knows when that will be lol. BUT I do have some good news. All my blood counts look good so I got the ok to work part-time. There's a job opening for a 911 Operator here that I'm going to apply for. I really want to do something that will help people and I think this will be a great opportunity to do just that. I just need to freshen up on my typing skills for a bit before I go in and apply because we have to take a test. I can type fast but accuracy is another story lol. I really hope I get this job. I've had so many people help me in my life and I want a chance to do something to help others. This job hunt has also made me realize that I need to go back to school. I don't want to/can't really work in the restaurant industry and stand on my feet all day so my culinary experience is basically useless to me. Unless by some dumb luck I come across a small bakery that needs someone....it's pretty much useless lol. I'm thinking of maybe going to a vocational school to be an EMT. They don't really make any money but it's rewarding lol. Who knows...it all depends on if I get this job or not if I can even go back to school. So we shall see. As for right now I'm just praying for any job cuz I'm dying without a car. It's so frustrating not being able to go places I want to go when I want to go! It's also very annoying having to use my parents' computer all the time....but I can live with that if it means saving for a car :) As for right now....I need to get to practicing my typing so I can hopefully get this job!!

Dear Grandpa

Wow.... So a lot has been going on in my life lately since the last time I blogged. Yes, yes, I know I'm a slacker :) On July 4th my grandpa passed away from complications with Parkinson's Disease. He was such a sweet, loving man and I miss him so much already. He had a long, hard battle with this awful disease and we're all grateful that his fight is over and he's in a much better place. He chose to be cremated...which I will never understand...but his memorial services were this past tuesday on the 14th. I'm doing a lot better since the services, I think it gave me a lot of closure. Before the memorial service my mom had all of us think of some memories of Papa to share in a thing my dad read. I wanna take a little more time and try and think of some more memories of him...

*Going to air shows and the air field...he loved planes*

*Going to get ice cream whenever we got the chance*

*Going to the Talmage Store to run errands*

*Gathering worms in the early morning to take fishing*

*Going fishing in the creek by my grandparents house in Cali*

*Watching him play pool in our basement for hours....he was soooo good*

*Going fishing in the canal up on our top property and dangling our feet over the edge*

*How much he loved cinnamon rolls*

*He'd always toast his marshmallows over the coals, so they'd be perfectly golden brown...no black. To this day I do mine the same way*

* He loved Wendy's Frosty's...actually he loved ice cream in any way, shape or form :)*

* He always told me how beautiful I looked....even when I thought it was a big fat lie...lol*

* He never let anyone leave without a hug and a kiss*

*He loved my grandma soooo much...even though she was crazy and yelled a lot lol*

*He had a great sense of humor...like agreeing with me that grandma was crazy :)*

*He never complained about anything...even though Parkinson's took away almost everything he loved to do and had him trapped inside that body*

*He was a Patriot through and through. He loved this country with all his heart*

I'm sure I could sit here all night and think of many, many more memories of Papa. Those were just a few I wanted to share with yall. I love my grandpa very much. He's a very special man and I miss him dearly. I'm sure as time goes on it will get easier, but for now, his memory is still fresh and the pain is also. I'm also attaching his obituary that my mom wrote. It's really beautiful and I don't know how she had the strength to write it honestly.

I love you Papa and I'll see you again someday...I promise

Too True

So I was going through my email, finally playing catch-up and reading all of them when I came across this one. I thought it was too funny...and true....not to share.

Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in this country lately: illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida. Not me, I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It's a win-win situation.
+ Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees.
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Any other problems you would like for me to solve today?
Yes! Think about this one:
1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

C O W S
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

T H E C O N S T I T U T I O N
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq . Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

T H E 1 0 C O M M A N D M E N T S
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

La De Da...

Well it's 4:30 am and I can't sleep so I thought I'd blog since I haven't done it in almost 2 months!! With it being Memorial Day I thought I'd share my feelings on how grateful I am for the people that sacrifice everything to keep us safe and keep our freedoms. Last Monday I did an FHE on remembering to show gratitude towards the men and women that give up everything to protect our freedoms. So that we may be able to live as we like, and do the things that we love to do and worship as we choose. I'm thankful that I get to wear the things that I want to wear everyday and do my hair the way that I want to do. All these things are made possible by these great people that are willing to risk their lives for us...people they don't know. They do it for a cause they believe in, for their children, and their husbands, wives, brothers, sister, parents, etc. But back to the FHE, I did that lesson and then we were going to go see the Vietnam Wall that was on display here for Armed Forces day but they had taken it down a day early!! I was so upset!! So instead I decided that we should write letter to soldiers thanking them for their service in protecting this great nation we live in. After that day I've made it my goal to write to a soldier every day since then. It's not like I have anything better to do with my time lol. And I know it means so much to the soldiers to get news from home. If anyone else that is reading this is interested in sending letters too you can go to http://www.lettersfromhomeprogram.org/ I know the letters are greatly appreciated.

I'm so proud to say that my grandpa and dad served in the military to keep us safe here and keep our way of life.

I intended to write more about what's going on in my life but I'm falling asleep finally so to be continued...

My Wonderfully Wonderful Weekend

So... Thursday afternoon my friend Casie's mom text me and asked me if I wanted to go to Idaho with her...3 hours from then...eeeeek. So I ran upstairs, hopped in the shower, threw some clothes in a bag and we headed off on our way. Now before I go any further in my story we have to do a pause and rewind with a little background info. I've had a thing for Casie's brother Dustin for a while now...since like last may. And recently Lorrie, their mom has been trying on my end to get me together with him, which cracks me up but doesn't bother me in the least. So we've been conspiring on a trip up to Idaho. Ok now fast forward back to where we were. Lorrie and I drove to Layton on thursday then decided to stop for the night since it was late and we were both tired. I love driving through Utah at night. You can see all the pretty temples all around. It's just awesome. So Friday morning we got back on the road about 9:30. I absolutely love Lorrie. She's awesome and so fun to talk with. We got to Rexburg about 1 and drove to Dustin and Casie's grandparents house where we were staying and also where Dustin happens to be living :). We all hung out for a bit then Casie went to work and Dusty went to bed for a little while before dinner and bowling (he works from 3 am to about 9 or 10 am so he needed a nap). After a while Lorrie, Dusty and I went to visit Casie at work and have dinner there in Idaho Falls then drove back to Rexburg for bowling league with Dusty and his grandma. We chilled and watched them and Annie (the other sister) and I played air hockey for about an hour or longer. After bowling we went home and Dusty and I went down to his basement apartment and talked for about 2 hours or so till we were both falling asleep. Then I went back upstairs and waited for Casie to get there. Since there wasn't much room in their grandma's house Casie and I had to share a bed and at some point in the middle of the night I woke up and Casie was spooning me! She told me she was gonna cuddle with me before we went to sleep but I didn't think she was serious lol. She was pretty embarrassed the next morning when I told her about it though. That was about all the events of day 1.

Day 2 consisted of lunch at Fong's chinese restaurant. I woke Dusty up so I didn't have to go alone with Lorrie and the other Grandma. Then a lot of shopping and playing on Dusty's iPhone. Those things are awesome! I totally want one now and I am officially addicted to the hangman app on it. After a zillion hours of running around all over Rexburg...as much as one can run around there we finally went home. Sometime after that we had dinner somewhere and then Dusty, his roommate Chris and I went to see the movie Push. Normally I'd say it'd be awkward for there to be a third wheel on a date but we're so comfortable it was cool. The movie was ok, Dakota Fanning has definitely grown up. I'd say the best part of the movie was getting to stare at Chris Evans (Fantastic 4) for 2 hours...so hot! So after the movie we go back to the guys house and some other people come over to watch a movie. They choose Jumper to watch which I've already seen but oh well. Dusty and I laying on the LoveSac playing with his iPhone and cuddling...yes I did say cuddling :) and I was getting all kinds of looks from the other girls there when I got up the one time. I loved it lol. So then after everyone left we were still laying there and talking and falling asleep cuz it was like 12:30 and he had to be up in 2 1/2 hrs. Then he walked me back upstairs and I gave him a kiss on the cheek and that was that. Any other guy I would have totally kissed but because I like him I get all shy...I hate it! Doesn't help that he's really really shy all the time too.

Saturday I spent most of the day with Casie and her mom. We went to see Annie, who goes to cosmotology school, and I chopped about 3 or 4 inches off my hair! I love it, it looks so healthy now. It was in major need of some lovin. After that we went to a craft store, then to try and find Lorrie some new jeans at Down East, then over to Wal-Mart. Much to my surprise I was walking through Wally World and passed by my friend Julia from TX! She was in my old singles ward and just got married this last summer. It was so good to see her! She's just too cute. So after catching up and buying some cold medicine (I got sick on vacation :( ) we FINALLY went home and I was worn out. I went to lay down for a little bit and not 20 min later Dusty comes in and asks if I wanna go with him to a bday party...well DUH of course I did! So we went to the party and hung out all night then went home and fell asleep talking on the couch lol.

Sunday morning we left early but Dusty told me to wake him up before we left so I went down and jumped on his bed and scared the crap outta him. It was great :) He helped us pack the truck up then we said our goodbyes, hugged, I gave him a kiss on the cheek and then we were off. It was a great weekend, just what the dr ordered. I needed a life...even if it was just for a couple days lol. I really like him and he's a great guy. We've talked everyday since I left and I get to go back up there at the end of March, I can't wait!

So I just reread this and realized I could have just written that I went up to Idaho, cuddled with a boy I like, chopped some hair off, saw a friend I hadn't seen in forever and came home. But what fun would that have been?!
